“Alone, I am nothing. I have nothing. We have power, but we will never know it; we will never see it work; unless we come together to make it work.”Ayi Kwei Armah (The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born)
Alone a person may not be able to make a difference, but when they join hands with others, they can make things work better.
It is clear to see that one of our many failings as a people in Africa and even in the Diaspora, is our inability to work together. Even when we preach about community, in many cases, this is limited to our individual selfish interests.
It’s every person for themselves.
The holidays are around the corner. This is one of the best times to show up for your family, friends, and community (not that you shouldn’t value team spirit every other day). Don’t disregard the people that are close to you because they are the ones who will be there, even if the world turns against you.
Imagine how much better life would be, with the unity of Africans all over the world, working together for the greater good.
